Destinations we offer > Thailand > Koh Lanta

Koh Lanta consists of two main islands - Koh Lanta Yai and Koh Lanta Noi (yai means big and Noi means small). They are located in Krabi province on the south west coast of Thailand.

Yai is the island often visited but can not be compared to islands or resorts further north, it is still relatively unspoilt. All of Lanta’s white, powdery sandy beaches are found on the west coast which means in high season (October – April) the islands mountainous interior protects them from the prevailing wind.

Lanta Old Town, in the south east, used to be the main “town” but is now very quiet, although makes for a nice, alternative day out. There are many sea-gypsy villages on Lanta, but the most visited is the one near Lanta Old Town.

The diving

The most southerly established dive sites in the country are to the south of Koh Lanta. They feature pristine corals and spectacular fringing reefs in potentially excellent visibility. Here are some of the finest dive sites in the country, such as Hin Mouang, which features the deepest drop-off in Thailand, with depths in excess of 70m, and Hin Daeng, one of the few remaining dive sites where both manta rays and whale sharks are regularly encountered.

Accommodation we offer

3*Twin Bay - Kow Kuang Beach

This small resort at the northern end of Kow Kuang Beach consists of 34 bungalows. All of the rooms are set in a tropical garden. Both the swimming pool and restaurent are beachfront meaning all day can be spent looking over the Andaman Sea, that is of course when you are not under it.

Twin Bay is the accommodation closest to our dive centre in Saladan so is very much suited to those diving everyday. A good choice for clubs, schools and those where diving is the main purpose of the holiday.

4*Royal Lanta - Klong Dao Bay

Managed by the same people at Twin Bay the philosophy of "Bare foot living" is upheld here too. South of Kow Kuang the resort is bigger with 70 rooms with various types and standards.

Notably the 6 family rooms contain a king size bed for parents and a bunkbed, making this accommodation ideal for those with young children. The 2 swimming pools and spa mean non diving partners are catered for without breaking the bank.

5*Layana Resort & Spa

A small adult only luxury spa resort consisting of only 50 rooms. All are designed in a contemporary Thai style, complete with large balconies. The resort is within the Mo Koh Lantaa NP and has a beachfront location on a 3km white sandy beach. The spa hosts 5 treatment rooms, sauna, outside jacuzzi & hydro massage pool.

This resort is perfect for couples looking for quiet and secluded accommodation with a stunning setting.

5*Pimilai Resort & Spa - Ba Kan Tiang Bay

This boutique beach resort occupies 100 acres of tropical vegetation with direct access to a 900 mtrs stretch of pristine sandy beach and offers 121 accommodation units. Situated in the south west of the island far from the more 'developed' bays & beaches further north. The resort has 8 restaurants & bars, a spa, fitness room, tennis courts, 2 swimming pools.

A quality resort with an array of facilities to cater for the active and not so active. Ideal for couples and families alike.

Hidden Depths Diving

Introducing the dive centre at Saladan:

For some reason in 2011 Gary & Rich took the decision to swap the winter months in Salisbury for an island in the Andaman Sea and Hidden Depths went international. Even stranger their better halves Jo and Ali joined them to help in the office while they went out diving!

However what this means is that we have a great team to look after you which compliments our speedboat very well. The boat gives us the edge over many of our competitors by reducing the time getting to the dive sites, especially the famous Hin Daeng & Muang by up to 2 hours.

We pick up and drop off to all of the above hotels making your day as stress free as possible. The fact that our boat only accommodates 12 people means we can be more attentive to each guest, be that reasuring a beginner or helping an underwater photographer with his equipment into the water. Apres dive we don't want you to rush off and encourage you to have a drink and relax on our pier with views out to sea.
